Epitalon comes up constantly in longevity circles — usually wrapped in big claims about "turning back the clock." If you've been trying to separate what the research actually explores from the hype, here's the plain-English version.
Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide — a short chain of just four amino acids (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly). It was designed as a synthetic version of epithalamin, a natural peptide extract associated with the pineal gland. In the research world it's handled as a research compound, labeled for research use only, not as an approved consumer product.
Most published work on Epitalon is preclinical (lab and animal studies), with some smaller human studies coming out of Russian research groups. Researchers have explored areas such as:
Important and honest caveat: much of this is early-stage research, and large, independent human clinical data is limited. So treat it as "what studies are exploring," not "what it's proven to do for people." Always work with a qualified professional.
Epitalon is most commonly researched as an injectable, reconstituted from a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. You may also see it discussed in nasal spray and occasionally oral formats. The form changes how it's handled and measured, which is exactly the kind of thing our reference guides lay out clearly.
If you're working with the injectable research form, the powder is reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before handling. The concentration you create (mg of peptide ÷ mL of water) determines every measurement after it — get that right and everything downstream is accurate. Our cheat sheets and Universal Excel Logbook do this math for you (tick-mark tables for dozens of peptides, including Epitalon).
This is where most people get burned. Epitalon quality varies widely between suppliers. Before buying from anyone, check that they:
We do not recommend or partner with any peptide supplier. Use the checklist instead: third-party COAs that match your batch and lot, stated purity, clear research-use labeling, real support and proper cold-chain shipping.

It's typically sold labeled for research use only — not for human consumption. Regulations vary by country and change over time, so always confirm what's permitted in your location. This is educational content, not legal advice.
Because it's modeled on a pineal-gland peptide, a lot of the research touches on circadian rhythm and melatonin signaling — which is why it surfaces so often in sleep and aging conversations. The studies are still early, so view it as a research area, not a proven outcome.
