Fiber isn't exciting, but it might be the highest-return, lowest-cost thing you can do for your gut, your blood sugar, and staying regular — and most people get about half of what they need. Here's the plain-English version.

What fiber does

Fiber is the part of plant foods your body doesn't digest — and that's exactly why it's useful. It keeps things moving, feeds your good gut bacteria, blunts blood-sugar spikes, and helps you feel full.

The two types (both matter)

Whole plant foods give you both — you don't need to overthink it.

Why it matters MORE on a GLP-1

Constipation is one of the most common GLP-1 complaints, for a simple reason: you're eating less, so you're getting less fiber and less fluid, right when digestion has slowed down. Fiber (plus water and movement) is the front-line fix — and it does double duty by helping blood sugar and keeping you full. The gut lining is also where a lot of gut-research peptides focus, but fiber is the foundation nothing replaces.

Important pairing: add fiber and water together. Fiber without enough fluid can make constipation worse, not better. Ramp up gradually to avoid bloating.

Quick FAQ

How much fiber do I need?

Roughly 25–35g a day; most people get far less. Ramp up gradually with plenty of water.

What helps GLP-1 constipation?

Fiber + water + daily movement is the front-line combo. A fiber supplement can help — check with your prescriber.

Soluble or insoluble — which do I need?

Both. Whole plant foods (beans, oats, veg, berries, seeds) give you a mix without having to track it.
