Protein is the one nutrient almost everyone under-eats and over-complicates. Whether you care about aging well, holding onto muscle, or losing fat without losing strength, it's the highest-leverage food habit there is. Here's the simple version.
If numbers aren't your thing, a great rule of thumb is ~30g of protein at every meal, three or four times a day. That alone gets most people close.
After about 40, we naturally lose muscle over time (it has a name: sarcopenia). Muscle is what keeps you strong, mobile, metabolically healthy, and independent later in life. Protein + resistance training is the proven combination that fights that decline — and the protein target actually goes up with age, not down.
When you're losing weight — especially on a GLP-1 where appetite is low — protein becomes protective. Too little, and more of your weight loss comes from muscle instead of fat. This is important enough that we built a whole guide around it:
Our GLP-1 Muscle-Preservation Guide gives you a bodyweight-based protein target, protein-dense foods that go down easy on low appetite, a no-gym strength plan, and a tracker — the whole playbook for arriving lighter and stronger.

No — but it's the easiest backup for hitting your target on busy or low-appetite days. Whole foods first, powder as insurance.
It protects muscle during a calorie deficit, so more of your loss comes from fat. See the Muscle-Preservation guide.
The GLP-1 Muscle-Preservation guide turns "eat more protein" into a real, trackable plan — bodyweight targets, easy foods, and a strength routine.
